About Traditional Bridal Hairstyles

For that thick, full braid look you see here, I always use premium hair extensions (savaram). If your own hair is short or fine, these extensions blend naturally, allowing me to secure heavy Jada Billalu and Rakodi accessories so they stay perfectly in place for your entire ceremony.

A traditional South Indian bridal 'Jada' is more than just a braid. It is the centerpiece of your wedding look. Whether we are styling for a muhurtham or a varapooja, my focus is on a braid that looks grand but stays secure. I handle everything from crimping your natural hair for volume to pinning each hair ornament so it sits straight against the plait.

If you prefer a contemporary touch, we can mix things up. I often create leaf (fishtail) braids or bubble braids, which pair beautifully with modern outfits for receptions or sangeet functions. These styles allow us to use pearls, stone clips, or even delicate floral accents instead of the traditional heavy gold accessories.

For fresh flower styling, I source high-quality jasmine (mallige) and roses to weave directly into your hair, ensuring they look vibrant from the first ritual to the final photo. A quick note on hair prep: if you are worried about your hair being too oily or flat, I always perform light crimping before we start. This builds the foundation, ensuring your hairstyle holds its shape against humidity or long hours of rituals. I have worked with diverse hair lengths and textures, from very fine to thick and curly, and I will adjust the technique to ensure you feel like yourself. Since I bring my own kit for saree draping and jewellery setting, you do not have to worry about the logistics on your wedding day. You just sit back and relax while I take care of the details.
