Ready to start your crochet journey? These easy, step-by-step guides are made for absolute beginners. We will walk through the foundation stitches you need to make your first project.

Your crochet journey starts right here. This video shows the very first thing every crocheter learns: the basic chain stitch. It's the foundation for almost everything we make, and I promise it's easier than it looks.

About Crochet Basics: Your First Stitches

You do not need fancy tools or years of practice to start. Just grab a 4mm hook and some yarn, and follow along. We start with the slip knot and chain stitch, which is the foundation for literally everything, from baby frocks to pouches. If I can do it between making aloo pakoras, trust me, you can too. It is all about getting your tension right, and once you get that 'click', you are golden.

Why Crochet is Easier Than It Looks

Many people think crochet is complicated because of all the abbreviations in patterns, but truly, it is just one hook and one loop at a time. My approach for beginners is to keep it super simple. We do not stress about complex designs right away. Instead, we focus on the rhythm of the stitch.

What We Cover

In these tutorials, I break down the absolute essentials:

  • Understanding your yarn and hook sizes (3mm to 5mm).
  • Mastering the slip knot and foundation chain.
  • Controlling tension so your work does not get too tight or too loose.
  • Moving from chains to single and double crochet stitches.

Getting Started With Me

If you feel like you need more than just a video, I offer live group workshops and 1-on-1 private sessions. We look at things like posture, yarn handling, and how to hold your hook comfortably so your hands do not get tired. Whether you want to make a simple mug coaster or a full baby frock, we start here, at the beginning. No experience is expected, and zero judgment is given. Seriously, if you drop a stitch, we just pick it up. Let's make something cute together!
