Don't just grind for hours on the court. Learn the science behind every stroke, master your biomechanics, and start thinking like a pro.

Knowing when to go down-the-line is a key tactical skill. I teach my players the three main reasons: for a change of direction, to apply force on an easy ball, or as an approach shot. Otherwise, high-percentage cross-court play is the way.

Most players get the slice wrong by focusing on extension. The correct technique is to cut downwards on the ball and finish across your body. This makes your slice aggressive and causes it to skid, giving your opponent less time.

A weak return puts you on the defensive immediately. This video breaks down five essential tips to master your returns, from your athletic position to transferring your body weight forward. Turn a defensive shot into an offensive opportunity.

Having trouble adding a jump to your serve? This video shows the difference in technique and provides drills to develop the timing and leg drive needed. A coordinated jump is crucial for generating maximum power and height on your serve.

One of our young players explains the four primary stances in tennis: neutral, closed, semi-open, and open. Understanding which stance to use based on the situation is fundamental to good footwork and shot preparation.

You have three options for your contact point: on the drop, at the peak of the bounce, or on the rise. As your skill level improves, you learn to take the ball earlier to cut down your opponent's reaction time. All are correct, but context is everything.

Hand-feeding drills are one of my favorite tools. They allow a player to focus purely on technique, timing, and generating their own power without worrying about the variability of a rally. It's how we build muscle memory and refine every stroke.

Here are five simple tennis rhymes to remember key tactical concepts on the court. From tracking the ball off the racquet to adding spin for consistency, these tips will help you play smarter.

An analysis of Jannik Sinner's incredible pace and spin. The data shows you can hit hard while still generating massive spin. This is the modern game, and it's what I teach: use your full swing speed but brush the ball to get both power and control.

Watch this serve in real-time and slow motion. The kinetic chain is perfect, from the leg drive to the racquet drop and pronation. This is the level of technical perfection we strive for in every shot.

About Technical & Tactical Mastery

Stop forcing your slice with a flat extension. If you want a skidding, aggressive slice that forces errors, stop pushing the ball and start cutting downwards with a finish across your body. It is not about the hours you spend rallying; it is about knowing exactly why you choose a specific stance or contact point to strip time away from your opponent.

Tennis is chess on a court. If you are just hitting the ball without a plan, you are not training, you are just exercising. At Thirty40, we dismantle the 'run and hit' approach that is common in Indian tennis training. We focus on the biomechanics and the tactical intent behind every movement.

Why Technique Matters

Whether you are training at our Modern School in Mandi House or our facility in Vasant Kunj, the focus remains on quality over quantity.

  • The Kinetic Chain: From the serve to the groundstroke, we teach you how to use your legs as the engine. If your lower body isn't active, your swing is purely arm-based and inconsistent.
  • Stance Selection: We drill all four stances—neutral, closed, semi-open, and open. Knowing when to use which depends on the incoming ball speed and your recovery needs.
  • Tactical Decision Making: You will learn why we play cross-court as the high-percentage choice and exactly when to take the risk of going down-the-line. We move beyond basic rallying to teach point construction.

The Thirty40 Standard

We cater to players from junior foundation levels all the way to AITA aspirants. For our competitive players, we integrate biomechanical video analysis to spot flaws in your swing path before they become bad habits.

We train in small groups (1:4 ratio for competitive batches) to ensure every minute on court has a purpose. If you are ready to stop chasing rankings aimlessly and start building a real career in the sport, come train with us. No excuses, no shortcuts, just results.

I’ve walked the path from local Delhi courts to learning the structured, professional systems in Spain. I don’t believe in mindless drills; I believe in purposeful practice that builds thinking players who know exactly why they’re hitting a specific shot.
