Professional Turntablism and DJ Gear Setup
I treat music as a craft, not just a job. From my vinyl collection to my live mixing console, this is the gear and the philosophy that powers my performance.
A quiet moment with my vinyl collection. A good drink, and a wall of records featuring artists like Eminem and David Bowie. This is my sanctuary.
A closer look at some of the records in my collection. For the record, we're vinyl only here.
The definition of 'genre' on the wall says it all. It's about a set of emotions, flavors, and people coming together in a space, which is what I strive for.
A new edition to my vinyl squad. Holding up my new Serato and Pioneer DJ control vinyl. This is the cure for my itch to scratch.
"More than a piece of wax." This new vinyl says it all. For me, records are a physical connection to the music and the art of DJing.
Sole mates. My Toro Bravo sneakers paired with a matching red Serato vinyl. Style and music go hand in hand.
Another angle of my Toro Bravo Jordans and the red control vinyl. It's all about the details.
About this collection
My setup isn't just for show. I use a Pioneer DJM battle mixer and Phase wireless controllers because they let me scratch, beat juggle, and live-remix tracks on the fly. When you book me, you're not just getting a static playlist; you're getting a live performance where I manipulate the sound based on how the crowd is reacting to the rhythm.
For me, the gear is a physical connection to the music. Even in a digital age, my philosophy remains rooted in the tactile art of turntablism. I started this journey in 2008, and while the technology has evolved from classic vinyl to Serato DJ Pro and Phase controllers, the core principles of reading a room and mixing with intent have stayed the same.
Why the Gear Matters
When I perform at a club night in Koramangala or a private wedding event, I don't just hit play. I use my console to create live mashups and transitions that you won't hear in a standard Spotify mix. Whether it's blending a high-energy Bollywood anthem with a classic Hip Hop break or introducing Afro House elements into a commercial set, I need equipment that responds instantly to my touch.
My Technical Approach
- Live Remixing: I don't rely on pre-recorded mixes. I use tone play transitions and live scratching to keep the energy dynamic.
- Open Format Strategy: My crate is loaded with everything from Retro to Punjabi and Commercial Pop. Having a professional battle mixer allows me to jump between these genres seamlessly.
- Setup: I provide the complete console, laptop, and mixers. All I need from your venue is a sturdy 4ft x 2ft table and a professional PA system to make the sound hit right.
This is about the josh aur junoon (energy and passion) I put into every set. If you are looking for a DJ who cares about the sonic details as much as the dance floor energy, then we are on the same page.
