Behind the Decks: My Setup and Process
It takes more than a playlist to keep a crowd moving. Take a look at the gear, focus, and energy I bring to every set to ensure the music never misses a beat.
A close-up of me at work on my Pioneer DJ console. Every knob, fader, and button plays a role in crafting the perfect mix and transitioning smoothly between songs.
A candid shot of me at the DJ booth, ready to get the party started. A good DJ is not just a music player but the host of the entire evening's energy.
Here I am scratching and mixing live during a weekend gig. The technical side of DJing is a skill I constantly work on to deliver a clean and creative sound.
A fun shot from my set at The Boozy Griffin. I love playing at different venues across Bangalore, each with its own unique crowd and atmosphere.
Sometimes the mood calls for lighter music to set a relaxed and magical tone. Here I am at an event, carefully selecting tracks to match the sophisticated ambiance.
This is my professional look. I believe in bringing not just great music but also a positive and confident presence to every event I play at.
I believe that aiming for a good party is not enough; you have to deliver it. This photo captures my focus and passion for the art of DJing.
About Behind the Decks
Whether I am on a compact controller for a private terrace party or using club-standard Pioneer CDJ 2000s for a wedding, the tech is only as good as the operator. I spend the first 60 to 90 minutes before every gig sound-checking and patching, because clear audio is the difference between background noise and a dance floor that keeps moving all night.
What you see in the booth is not just hardware—it is how I control the energy of the room. My setup depends entirely on the scale of your event. For house parties or intimate gatherings of up to 50 people, I bring my own controller and PA speakers. It is a clean, reliable setup designed to get the best sound out of smaller, enclosed spaces without taking up half the floor.
For larger corporate events or weddings, I switch to the industry-standard Pioneer CDJ 2000 NXS2 and DJM 900 mixer. These are the machines you will find in the top clubs across Bangalore. They offer the precision I need for beat-matching, smooth transitions, and seamless EQing, whether I am blending a high-energy Bollywood remix into a Punjabi chartbuster or dropping a Kannada track to get the local crowd going.
But the gear is just the tool. The real work happens in reading the crowd. If I see the energy dipping, I am not just waiting for the next song; I am manually adjusting levels, using the mic to hype the room, and shifting the tempo in real-time. It is about creating that 'aag laga di' moment where the music feels like it was made for the exact group of people standing in front of me. Whether it is an Indiranagar pub or a Whitefield wedding venue, I ensure the transition from speeches to party mode is completely seamless.
