About Wood & Bamboo Creations
This isn’t a classroom where you watch and listen. You'll be picking up Japanese saws, handling blowtorches for wood charring, and getting into the thick of grain and texture. Whether you are a total noob or have some experience with power tools, we make sure you have the safety gear and guidance to actually build your own project from scratch.
At our makerspace in Horamavu, we believe in 'love THE process'. You aren't just here to watch us work; you're here to use the equipment. We cover everything from traditional bamboo weaving—where you learn to process raw stalks into slivers—to modern woodworking techniques like Shou Sugi Ban, which involves charring wood for preservation and a unique textured finish.
Our setup includes dedicated workbenches, heavy-duty chisels, and power tools for when you need precision. Beginners often worry about making mistakes, but that is where the real learning happens. You will learn to handle rasps, gauges, and saws, turning raw materials into functional items like wind chimes, custom hangboards, or home decor.
Sessions are limited to small groups to ensure you get proper mentorship for every joint, cut, and finish. If you’re coming in to make a bamboo didgeridoo, you’ll be doing the heavy lifting with rasps to clear the internal bore and firing techniques to straighten the bamboo. It's dusty, it's loud, and it's incredibly satisfying.
