About Silversmithing: Forge Your Own Jewelry
Silversmithing isn't just about the finished ring or pendant; it’s about the transformation. You start your weekend with 5-10g of loose silver granules, and by the end of Sunday, you have a fully polished, handmade piece of sterling silver jewelry. It is intense, physical, and the satisfaction of watching raw metal melt and form under your own hands is something you have to feel to understand.
The Two-Day Process
This isn't a passive demonstration. It is a full weekend of technical immersion where you learn the foundational skills of jewelry making. We keep groups small so you get plenty of time with the tools and the mentor.
Day 1: The Melt & Shape We start with the fundamentals. You will learn to melt fine silver grains into an ingot. From there, you will use the rolling mill to turn that metal into workable sheets or wire. We cover essential techniques like sawing, filing, and texturing, which give your piece its character.
Day 2: Construction & Polish This is where the design comes to life. You will learn annealing and soldering to join your pieces, plus bezel setting techniques if you are working with stones. You walk out with a fully finished, high-quality sterling silver piece you made yourself.
Why Do It Here?
We don't do boring lectures. You are on the jeweler's bench from the first hour. We provide all the specialized gear—butane torches, mandrels, files, and rolling mills. Whether you want to make a gift for someone special or just want to see if you have the patience for smithing, this is your safe space to make mistakes and learn the craft.
