About Decadent Desserts & Patisserie
Desserts are tricky because they rely on texture to look delicious. In my studio, I do not just point and shoot. I use specific soft-light modifiers to highlight the sheen on a chocolate ganache or the flaky layers of a croissant, ensuring the depth translates well on a small smartphone screen. It is about making the viewer feel the texture before they even visit your shop.
Shooting desserts requires patience and a specific approach compared to savory food. While a hot meal needs to be shot quickly before the steam dissipates, desserts offer more time for styling but demand absolute precision with lighting. A minor smudge on a mirror glaze or a slight tilt on a cake tier can break the illusion of perfection.
My process starts with understanding the personality of your dessert. Is it a rustic, home-style tart, or a modern, architectural mousse cake? A rustic tart needs warm, natural-looking side lighting that accentuates its crumb and filling. A modern mousse cake with a mirror glaze, however, needs controlled, studio-style highlights that wrap around its curves to emphasize that glossy, perfect finish.
I handle the entire setup, from choosing the right plates and linens to creating those essential atmosphere elements. If you are a home baker launching a new menu, we can shoot in a way that feels intimate and accessible. If you are a high-end patisserie in Mumbai, we create high-contrast, polished imagery that looks like a high-end magazine campaign.
