Structured Piano and Music Group Classes
Discover a collaborative approach to music education where structured theory meets hands-on practice. Our group sessions offer a supportive environment for students of all ages to build confidence and technical proficiency.
We love bringing music history to life in our classes. Here, students learn to play the theme from Gustav Holst's 'Jupiter', a piece characterized by its abundance of life and vitality.
It is never too early or too late to start learning. We believe music is for the whole family, and moments like these, a father and baby dueting at the piano, are truly precious.
Our curriculum explores music from around the world. In this class, students are learning 'Chaar-Mezrab' by Saman Shahi, a piece based on Iranian classical music that helps develop octave playing technique.
We break down complex pieces into manageable parts. Here, students practice sections of a Schubert waltz, comparing the parallel major and minor passages to better understand harmony and mood.
Music is a universal language that connects us all. We foster a supportive and collaborative environment in our classrooms where students and teachers share in the joy of learning.
One of our teaching techniques involves having students sing the melody while playing the chords. This helps internalize the tune, balance the parts, and pay closer attention to the music's structure.
Where words fail, music speaks. Our classes are a space for students to express themselves, build skills, and find their own voice through the language of music.
Transposition is a vital skill for versatile musicians. Here, a teacher guides a student through playing the 'Titanic' theme in different keys, which improves listening skills and understanding of key topography.
Music has been our education, and we are grateful for it every day. We aim to pass on that passion and appreciation to every student who walks through our doors.
We believe that studying music is about more than just notes. As Jef Raskin, a key figure in creating the Macintosh computer, said, his study of music was essential to his later innovations.
About A Look Inside Our Group Classes
We cap our group batches at 5 students to ensure every learner gets dedicated time with our Kawai digital pianos. This setup allows us to integrate real-time theory drills and collaborative exercises directly into your 60-minute weekly session, focusing on balanced technique and sight-reading.
Our group classes are designed to provide a comprehensive music education that goes beyond simple key identification. By studying in small groups, students learn to listen critically, coordinate with peers, and develop a deeper understanding of musical structure and harmony.
Why Choose Group Learning
Group instruction fosters a sense of community and healthy competition that can accelerate progress. When students practice sections of a piece together, they develop essential ensemble skills, such as maintaining tempo and balance, which are difficult to master in isolation. This environment is particularly effective for:
- Foundational Technique: Regular drill sessions on rhythm, hand positioning, and chord structures.
- Theory Integration: Dedicated time in every lesson for flashcards and whiteboard exercises.
- Performance Confidence: Exposure to performing in front of peers, which builds the resilience needed for our seasonal recitals.
Curriculum and Certification
We follow a structured syllabus that aligns with international music boards like Trinity, ABRSM, and LCME. Whether you are a beginner focusing on basic scales or an intermediate student preparing for higher-grade examinations, our curriculum ensures a logical progression of skills. We emphasize sight-reading, aural training, and repertoire study to create well-rounded musicians. If you are aiming for formal qualifications, we provide the necessary guidance to prepare you for these recognized grade assessments, though our primary goal remains fostering a lifelong appreciation for music.
