Learning the building blocks of music shouldn't feel like a chore. At our Indiranagar and HSR centers, we use interactive quizzes and rhythm games to make music theory as engaging as playing your first chord.

Can you name this famous tune from its sheet music? We use fun quizzes like this to help students improve their sight-reading skills and make learning music theory an enjoyable challenge.

About Fun with Music

Music theory is often taught with dry textbooks, but we take a tactile approach. In our sessions, we use rhythm sticks, solfege singing, and sheet music quizzes to help students internalize musical phrasing and pitch identification naturally, long before they start preparing for formal exams.

Our Approach to Early Learning

At Theme Music Institute, our 'Fun with Music' philosophy is designed to build a strong foundation without the pressure of rigid drills. Whether in our Indiranagar or HSR Layout centers, we believe that children learn best when they are active participants. Our 12-week quarterly terms focus on getting kids comfortable with the instrument, teaching them to listen, move, and identify sounds.

Why Theory Matters

Many students find music theory daunting. We break this down by integrating it into the learning process. By using rhythm exercises, body percussion, and hands-on access to Kawai digital and acoustic pianos, we help students develop internal timing and aural skills. This ensures that when they eventually move to formal Trinity or ABRSM exam preparation, they are already familiar with the concepts of pitch, key, and notation.

The Curriculum Structure

Our classes for ages 4 to 6 are small, keeping cohorts between 4 and 8 students. This ensures that every child receives personal attention. Each session lasts 45 to 60 minutes and includes:

  • Solfege & Aural Training: Learning to identify notes through the Do-Re-Mi system.
  • Movement & Rhythm: Using percussion instruments and movement to internalize timing.
  • Piano Familiarity: Guided finger placement on our studio pianos.

By starting with play, we prepare students for a lifetime of structured musical study, including guitar, vocals, or advanced piano, all while maintaining the confidence and joy required to perform at our regular student recitals.
