We designed this lounge area with a custom back wall featuring metallic panels and abstract mirrors. The setup includes a modern bar and comfortable seating, all in a cohesive pastel and gold color scheme.

About Under the Stars: Magical Sufi Nights
We approach Sufi night lighting by layering height and texture, using a combination of glass-encased pillar candles and brass-housed tealights. This method ensures that the illumination is soft and warm rather than bright, effectively transforming outdoor spaces or banquet halls into serene, intimate lounges that invite guests to settle in and relax.
Creating the Sufi Atmosphere
A successful Sufi night relies on shifting the energy of the space. We move away from high-contrast stage lighting and focus on ambient, ground-level glow. By utilizing thousands of candles at varying heights, we create a sense of depth and enclosure that makes even the largest venue feel private.
Lounge-Style Seating
For these events, we prioritize guest comfort by moving away from standard banquet setups. We bring in plush sofas, low-slung ottomans, and daybeds to encourage a relaxed, conversational flow. This layout is designed to break down the barrier between the decor and the guests, allowing everyone to feel part of the narrative we are building.
Sensory Details
We believe design is experienced through more than just sight. For a Sufi theme, we integrate fresh flowers like Mogra (Jasmine) into the table centerpieces and lounge areas. The subtle, natural fragrance adds a layer of authenticity to the evening. We also incorporate reflective surfaces—like mirrored coffee tables and brass trays—which catch the candlelight and amplify the glow, creating a shimmering effect that feels both traditional and luxurious.
Structural Elements
To ground the space, we often use custom panels featuring traditional Indian block prints or jaali patterns. When lit correctly, these panels cast intricate shadows, adding another layer of texture to the room. Our goal is to craft an environment where the architecture feels like part of the celebration, not just a backdrop.
