Daily Care & Handling at The Canine Coach
Proper handling is the foundation of trust. We integrate daily routines—grooming, touch, and structure—into every dog's stay to ensure they remain confident and calm.

Grooming shouldn't be a struggle. Here, I'm getting a young puppy comfortable with being brushed. Starting these handling exercises early and making them a positive experience is key to a lifetime of stress-free grooming and vet visits.
About Daily Care & Handling
Most people think grooming is just for hygiene, but I use it as a crucial training tool. When I brush a dog, I am actually checking for sensitivity, teaching them to hold still, and rewarding them for staying calm. If your dog gets anxious during vet visits or bath time, we work on that here by desensitizing them to touch and handling, step by step.
Why Daily Handling Matters
Dogs are constantly communicating through their bodies, but we often miss the signs because we assume they just need 'more exercise.' A dog that snaps during nail clipping or runs away from a leash isn't being 'naughty.' They are usually scared, overstimulated, or simply haven't been taught how to be comfortable in that situation. My approach to daily care focuses on closing this communication gap.
The Farm Routine
At our 1500 sq. yard farm in Noida, we replace the chaos of a busy household with structured, predictable routines. Every dog, whether they are here for boarding or a training retreat, follows a consistent schedule. This includes two long walks, short potty breaks, and—most importantly—dedicated handling sessions.
We practice:
- Desensitization: We teach dogs that being touched (by paws, ears, or tail) is safe and rewarding.
- Grooming as Bonding: We use daily brushing not just to keep coats healthy, but to create a 'calm state' where the dog learns to relax while being handled by a human.
- Focus Exercises: We introduce short, fun training drills during playtime, so obedience feels like a game, not a chore.
Building Confidence for the Real World
Whether your dog is a rescue settling into a new life or a family pet struggling with reactivity, our care goes beyond just providing food and shelter. We teach them impulse control and emotional regulation in a safe environment. By the time they return home, you will have a dog that is not only physically tired from the farm activities but mentally stimulated and much more comfortable with the realities of daily handling.
