About Living Walls: Your Thriving Vertical Garden
Before a single plant touches the wall, I run a full horticultural assessment of your space. Sunlight direction, wind, and wall load all factor into whether we use a rust-proof steel framework or lighter modular pots. It is the engineering behind the leaves that keeps your wall thriving for years.
Building a Living, Breathing Wall
A vertical garden is more than a design choice. It is a commitment to fresh air and a calmer home environment. When I build a bio-wall, I am focusing on long-term sustainability as much as the aesthetic appeal.
The Technical Build Each installation begins with a sturdy Mild Steel (MS) box frame, anti-rust coated and chemically anchored to your wall to handle the weight of moist soil and mature plants. We maintain a density of 10 to 12 plants per square foot to ensure full coverage. To keep the weight manageable and the plants happy, we use a custom soilless medium made of cocopeat, perlite, and vermiculite. This mix prevents root rot and keeps the wall light.
Maintenance Made Simple Most clients worry about watering, which is why I integrate automated drip irrigation. We connect pressure-compensating drippers to your existing water source, controlled by a digital timer. It ensures every plant gets exactly what it needs without you having to lift a hose.
Customization for Your Space
- Sunlight Planning: I analyze your wall's exposure to decide if we need sun-loving tropicals or shade-tolerant varieties.
- Design Flow: We arrange the plants in swirls, waves, or organic patches rather than rigid grids, creating a natural look that mimics a real forest floor.
- Post-Install: Once the wall is up, I walk you through the filter cleaning and moisture check schedule. It is about creating that slice of sukoon (peace) that lasts.
