About Cover-Up & Scar Camouflage
Covering a tattoo is not just about drawing over it. I take time to understand the old design's density and ink saturation first. If the previous tattoo is too dark, we might need a creative approach, like incorporating existing shapes into a larger, more detailed design. I will always be honest with you during our consultation about what is possible so we do not rush into a permanent mistake.
When you come to my studio in Dwarka, we start with a clear, honest conversation. A successful cover-up requires planning that goes beyond just aesthetics.
The Process
- Consultation & Assessment: We look at the age and depth of the old ink. Scar tissue requires extra care, as it reacts differently to needles than regular skin. I examine if the skin is ready or if we need to let it settle.
- Custom Design: I don't use generic templates. For cover-ups, I draft designs specifically to mask the specific dark spots of your old tattoo using heavy black packing or grey wash shading techniques.
- Execution: We prioritize hygiene throughout the process. I use single-use, sterilized cartridges for every session. For large scars or complex cover-ups, we might plan the work in stages to ensure the skin heals perfectly.
