Planning a sleeve or a large back piece? We design cohesive art that flows with your body anatomy. From the first concept to the final shading, we map out your vision to ensure it fits perfectly.

This half-sleeve gangster portrait is a powerful statement piece. We used deep blacks and soft grey shading to create a moody, cinematic look, from the smoking figure to the silhouette below.

An anime-inspired forearm sleeve. This piece combines multiple panels, like a manga page, to tell a story. It's a great way to showcase your love for a series in a large, dynamic format.

This video shows the beginning of a full arm tattoo with a lightning theme. Large pieces like this are a journey, and it all starts with a detailed stencil to map out the entire design.

A custom "Wanderlust" armband for a traveler. This design combines a compass, mountains, the word 'Wanderlust', and a camera, wrapping around the arm to symbolize a love for adventure.

About Custom Sleeves & Large Pieces

When working on full sleeves or large pieces, I do not just print a stencil and start. I use a freehand marker to draw the flow of the design directly on your muscles, ensuring the tattoo looks like it belongs to your body's natural shape. This planning stage takes extra time, but it is the only way to make a large project look cohesive rather than like a series of disconnected images.

Large projects like half or full sleeves require a different approach than small symbols. You are committing to a significant amount of skin and time, so the design needs to be durable and anatomically sound.

My process involves a dedicated consultation where we discuss the theme, the flow of the arm or back, and how the tattoo will age. We focus on composition, ensuring that the main subjects—whether they are portraits, mythology, or geometric patterns—are balanced against the background details. For large-scale work, I typically use a combination of grey wash for smooth gradients and solid black packing for tribal or blackout elements to ensure depth.

We plan these projects in stages, often splitting the work into multiple sessions to manage skin trauma and healing. This allows us to focus on high-detail shading in one sitting and then return to sharpen the lines or add background texture in the next.

If you have an idea for a full arm sleeve or a complex back piece, we will start by discussing your vision during a consultation in my Dwarka studio. Bring your reference images, and we will sketch a layout that works for you.

I am Anurag, and I have been inking stories in Dwarka for years. For me, a sleeve is a journey, mapping out your ideas until they feel right on your skin. When you walk into my studio, we sit down, chat about the theme, and sketch until the design is perfect.
