I believe in being transparent about pricing. In this video, I explain why you see such a large price variation for treatments like Keratin and Botox in the market and what factors, including product safety, contribute to the cost.
About Expert Advice: Understanding Your Options
People often ask for 'keratin' when they actually need 'smoothening' for straight hair. Here is the rule: if you want a poker-straight look, you need a chemical process to break hair bonds. If you just want to manage frizz and add shine without changing your texture permanently, a protein-based keratin treatment is the right choice. My goal is to make sure you know which one you are paying for before we start.
Understanding Your Hair Treatments
There is a lot of confusion in the market about what different treatments actually do. When you walk into a salon in Gurgaon, you shouldn't have to guess if you're getting a permanent transformation or a temporary fix.
Why Pricing Varies So Much
I get asked all the time: why does one salon charge ₹2,000 for a keratin treatment and another charges ₹8,000? The answer is almost always the product and safety.
Many low-cost treatments rely on cheap, imported products that contain formaldehyde, a known carcinogen. At Tangles, I don't use those. We use brands like Schwarzkopf and L'Oreal, and formaldehyde-free formulations for our Botox treatments, because I would rather say no to a client than use a product that damages your health or your hair's long-term integrity.
Breaking Down the Options
- Permanent Smoothening/Rebonding: This is a chemical process. We break the hair's natural bonds and restructure them. This is the only way to get 90-100% straight hair. It lasts 8-12 months but requires professional post-care to keep it healthy.
- Keratin Treatment: This is a protein-coating treatment. It fills in the hair cuticle to reduce frizz and add shine. It is not a permanent straightening method. Expect 20-30% straightness and about 3-4 months of manageability.
- Hair Botox: Think of this as deep nutrition for damaged hair. It uses nano-molecules to repair the hair fiber. It’s fume-free and excellent for those who want shine and health more than poker-straight hair.
How to Decide
Before you book, ask yourself: do you want to change your natural hair texture permanently, or do you just want it to be easier to manage in the mornings? Once you know the answer, we can choose the right product and technique for your hair type and budget.
