Creating a garment that fits perfectly requires more than just measurements. I insist on a minimum of one trial session for every piece to ensure the canvas fusing, sleeve length, and shoulder slope align precisely with your build. This iterative process allows us to adjust the drape and structure before the final stitch, ensuring the garment moves with you rather than against you.
The Anatomy of Bespoke Construction
True luxury is quiet. It is found in the way a shoulder holds its shape, the tension of a button, and the drape of fabric across the chest. In my Mahalaxmi studio, I focus on the structural foundations of menswear. Whether it is a structured Bandhgala or a regal Sherwani, the integrity of the garment relies on high-quality canvas fusing. This internal construction ensures that the fabric maintains its form, providing a sharp, confident silhouette that does not sag or buckle over time.
Material Integrity
The fabric you choose is the primary narrative of your outfit. I work primarily with Raw Silk, heavy-weight Brocade, and Italian-blend suiting materials. These fabrics are selected for their texture and ability to catch light subtly, rather than relying on overwhelming patterns. When I incorporate Zari or Zardosi embroidery, it is placed with intent, highlighting the cuff, the collar, or the placket to create a balanced, elegant aesthetic.
The Tailoring Process
Bespoke tailoring is a collaborative journey. We begin with a consultation to discuss the occasion and your personal style. During our fittings, we verify the balance of the garment. I examine how the fabric reacts to your movement, adjusting waist suppression, trouser break, and collar fit. This is not assembly-line production. It is a precise, manual craft involving hand-stitched detailing, reinforced buttonholes, and carefully piped linings. The final product is a reflection of patience, skill, and a commitment to timeless elegance, designed to serve as a cornerstone of your wardrobe for years to come.
