Curious about what goes into your soap? From garden-fresh aloe to nourishing ghee, I break down why these ingredients are the secret to healthy, happy skin.

Kicking off my A-to-Z of soap ingredients series! This word cloud shows just a fraction of the amazing natural ingredients I love to use in my cold process soaps.

Welcome to my A-to-Z of soap making series! I'm starting with the letter A, featuring some of my favorites: Almond Oil, Avocado Puree, Aloe Vera Pulp, and Activated Charcoal.

Almond Oil is deeply moisturizing and nourishing. It's rich in Vitamin E, making it gentle and suitable for sensitive skin, and it adds a wonderful creaminess to the lather.

Avocado Puree is rich in vitamins that support healthy, glowing skin. It's deeply moisturizing, making it ideal for dry or mature skin, and adds a luxurious creaminess to soap.

Aloe Vera Pulp, often straight from my garden, is incredibly soothing and hydrating. It adds a silky slip to the soap lather and is perfect for sensitive or irritated skin.

Activated Charcoal is a detoxifying powerhouse. It deeply cleanses by drawing out impurities, helps combat acne, and gently exfoliates for smoother, clearer skin.

Episode B is for Beer, Bentonite Clay, and Banana! Beer adds a rich, bubbly lather, and the process of mixing it with lye is like a fun science experiment.

Beer contains natural sugars that boost bubbles in soap. It also has B vitamins and amino acids that nourish and condition the skin, resulting in a harder, longer-lasting bar.

Bentonite Clay is great for detoxifying and cleansing. It helps remove excess oil, making it great for acne-prone skin, and adds a lovely slip and silkiness to the lather.

Banana puree helps the skin retain moisture and gives soap a creamy texture. It's rich in potassium and vitamins that nourish and soften the skin.

About The Pantry: Our Skin-Loving Ingredients

My soap-making process does not just swap store-bought bases for better ingredients. By using the traditional cold process method, I ensure that skin-loving fats like shea butter, coconut oil, and goat milk are not broken down by high heat. This keeps their natural moisturizing properties intact, which is why your skin feels softer and more hydrated after every wash.
