We are an architecture and urbanism practice specializing in contextual design for homes, offices, and heritage restoration. Our hands-on process seeks to weave structures into their surroundings with proportion, rhythm, and human scale.

A vibrant scarlet spiral staircase serves as a sculptural connector in a commercial office building, transforming a simple circulation element into a memorable spatial experience. This design choice highlights our belief in integrating art and function.

The "Solid | Void | Solid" house showcases our approach to residential design in a dense urban setting. The facade plays with opacity and transparency, creating a dynamic relationship between the home's private interiors and the street.

This 3D-printed model of "The Arcades Project" demonstrates our process of reinterpreting familiar forms like arches and pitched roofs. The design for this community center uses these elements to create a porous, light-filled volume that engages with its neighborhood.

In the "Boxed In House," we crafted this staircase from teakwood recycled from the original structure on the site. This detail exemplifies our commitment to sustainable practices and material innovation, turning a functional piece into a central design feature.

"Orchards in the Sky" is our conceptual model for a mixed-use development that integrates nature into high-density living. Staggered, receding terraces create private gardens for residents, introducing fruit-bearing trees into the urban fabric.

We approached the KLE Centenary Museum not just as a restoration but as an opportunity to create a new public plaza. The project blends heritage with contemporary landscape design, featuring pavilions and water bodies that guide visitors through a narrative journey.

The bold red facade of our "Stacked Student Housing" project is a direct expression of its internal spatial organization. On a compact urban site, we layered living units to maximize density while ensuring privacy and creating a distinct architectural identity.

"Hoverspace" is our solution for expanding a corporate office without disturbing the existing 50-year-old structure. The new steel-truss volume floats above the old, creating a dialogue between past and present while giving the organization a new landmark presence.

An aerial view of "The Treehouse" housing project in Bengaluru reveals our strategy for community living. We dismantled the traditional clubhouse, distributing social and activity spaces vertically throughout the building's core, from the ground-floor lobby to the rooftop pool.

This is our Hoverspace project, an office extension designed to float above a 50-year-old building. This night view captures the dialogue between the new structure and the existing campus, creating a new identity for the organization while respecting its history.

The KLE Centenary Museum at dusk, where restored heritage architecture meets new landscape interventions. The interplay of light, water, and structure creates a serene public plaza, transforming a historic site into a vibrant urban space.

This is the starting point for one of our current commissions: the restoration of a significant Art Deco building designed by Claude Batley. We approach such projects with a deep contextual study to preserve the structure's soul while adapting it for contemporary family life.

The double-height entrance lobby of 'The Treehouse' apartments is designed to maximize natural light and create a welcoming, open atmosphere. We integrated lush indoor planting and contemporary furniture to blur the line between the interior and the surrounding landscape, establishing a serene arrival experience for residents.

This living room from our 'Solid Void Solid' house project exemplifies our principle of indoor-outdoor integration. Full-height sliding glass doors open directly onto a private garden, extending the living space and filling the interior with natural light and ventilation, creating a seamless connection to nature.

The 'Figured Ground' university sports arena captured in action, showcasing the expansive, column-free interior enabled by a complex truss roof system. The design accommodates large-scale activities like basketball while maintaining a visual connection to the tiered seating, creating an energetic and inclusive environment for athletes and spectators.

In this residence, the lap pool is integrated into the core of the house, acting as a natural climatic device. It helps cool the adjacent dining and living areas through evaporative cooling while creating a stunning visual centerpiece that reflects light throughout the space.

The roof garden and event space at our studio, designed as a tranquil escape within the urban environment. This area demonstrates our belief in creating social spaces that connect with nature, featuring a blend of comfortable seating, lush greenery, and a seamless transition to the outdoors.

This render of our upcoming housing project in Bengaluru illustrates our approach to creating a layered urban fabric. We design not just buildings, but a network of gardens, streets, and plazas that foster community interaction.

Our design for this pedestrian footbridge is a sculptural urban intervention. The form is a direct response to structural and performative requirements, creating a piece of functional art that enhances the public streetscape.

For the KLE Centenary Museum, we extended the program beyond the restored colonial building into the landscape. The result is an award-winning public space where pavilions, gardens, and water bodies create a cohesive, narrative-driven experience.

This concept, 'Orchards in the Sky', redefines mixed-use development. We stacked compact residences to create receding terraces that function as private orchards, integrating productive landscapes into a high-density urban form.

Our adaptive reuse strategy for an 18th-century palace complex involves reimagining derelict spaces. Here, a miniature glasshouse is revitalized as part of a new recreational destination, blending heritage with contemporary programs.

Completed in 2016, this student housing project explores density on a minimal footprint of just 111.5 sq.m. The seemingly random fenestration is a direct outcome of the building's internal section and spatial layering.

Thirdspace

My Story

We’re Thirdspace, Praveen and Namrata here. Since 2002, we’ve called Pune and Belagavi home, sketching out ideas in Koregaon Park, under the trees. There was this late-night email in 2019 – not a complaint, but a note from Christopher Benninger, praising the human scale in our hostel project. That message, honest and unexpected, still keeps us going. Our studio’s shaped by moments like that – small things, big meaning.
