Symbolic Birds & Animals Folk Art Paintings
These pieces bring the timeless stories of nature into your home. Each painting is hand-sketched and filled with the bold, vibrant colours of traditional Indian folk art.
This is Raj Ashva, the royal horse, a symbol of strength and nobility. I painted this white horse with colorful adornments against a striking red background to give it a majestic feel.
A 12x12 inch painting of a peacock, a bird that symbolizes freedom and beauty. I loved creating the intricate patterns of its feathers using shades of blue and teal in the Kerala mural style.
The Hamsa, or divine swan, is a symbol of grace and balance. This small 9x10 inch framed piece captures its elegance with bright colors against a vibrant red background.
About Symbolic Birds & Animals
Every animal I paint, from the royal Raj Ashva horse to the intricate peacock, is sketched and coloured entirely by hand on quality cartridge paper. These pieces, ranging from 8x8 to 14x16 inches, come in ready-to-hang synthetic wood frames, making them simple to display on a desk or wall the moment they arrive.
Animals and birds hold deep, symbolic meaning in Indian heritage, and I love bringing these stories to life through my art. Whether it is the Raj Ashva horse representing power, the hamsa swan for elegance and balance, or the peacock signifying beauty and freedom, each creature is crafted with a focus on traditional Kerala mural and folk aesthetics.
My Process & Materials
I do not use prints. Every line, from the sharp gaze of a swan to the elaborate feathers of a peacock, is painted using acrylics or gouache. For smaller pieces, I use heavy-weight, acid-free cartridge paper, while larger commissions can be done on fine art canvas. Every painting is finished with a durable synthetic wood frame, ensuring they are ready to hang immediately.
Why These Pieces Work
These paintings are designed to be accessible. They make thoughtful gifts for housewarmings or birthdays, and they are compact enough to fit into cozy nooks, office desks, or gallery walls. If you are looking for specific customisations—perhaps a different colour palette to match your home decor or a different animal motif—I am always happy to discuss a custom commission. Since everything is handmade, please allow 7 to 14 days for larger, custom orders.
