About this collection
Getting a pet to sit still for an announcement photo is rarely about forcing a pose. I typically spend the first twenty minutes of our session letting your dog or cat sniff the new props, get comfortable with the studio lights, and maybe earn a few treats, so they actually feel like themselves when we finally hit the shutter.
Making Your Pet the Star
I believe your pregnancy announcement should feel authentic to your family. If your dog is a professional napper, we capture that. If they are a ball of chaotic energy, we lean into that. My goal is to capture the relationship you already have, not a stiff, rehearsed version of it.
How We Work
Most of my announcement sessions happen in one of two ways:
- At Your Home: This is usually where your pet feels safest. We keep the setup simple, using natural light and your existing space to create intimate, candid shots that feel like a snapshot of your daily life.
- In the Studio: If you want a clean, stylized look, I bring the studio to you. We use minimalist props—like a simple 'big brother' bandana or a small sign—to ensure the focus remains on your family dynamic.
Tips for a Smooth Session
- Familiarity is Key: Bring your pet’s favorite toy or a blanket they use every day. It helps them settle in much faster.
- Treats are Mandatory: Bring the high-value treats that make your pet sit up and pay attention. I will handle the distraction and the timing; you just need to keep them happy.
- Keep it Short: For announcement shoots, we don't need a four-hour window. A quick, focused session is usually enough to get the perfect shot before anyone gets tired.
