Bengali Weddings: Stories of 'Sundari' and Tradition
Bengali weddings are a beautiful blend of sacred rituals and raw emotion. I focus on capturing the soul behind every Shubho Drishti and quiet, stolen glance.

About Bengali Weddings: Stories of 'Sundari'
Bengali rituals like the Shubho Drishti and Mala Bodol happen in the blink of an eye. I do not just stand back with a long lens, I move with the flow of the ceremony, anticipating that exact moment the bride lowers the betel leaves from her face. My goal is to capture that split-second exchange without interrupting the sanctity of the ritual.
I have spent 7 years in Mumbai, and I have learned that the beauty of a Bengali wedding lies in the details. From the deep red and white of the traditional saree to the playful energy of the Saptapadi, every ritual carries a weight of history and emotion. When I shoot, I am looking for the 'Sundari' (beautiful) moments—the ones where the bride looks radiant with her traditional Chandan bindi, or the groom’s gentle look during the Sindoor Daan.
Because these ceremonies often happen in crowded, low-light mandaps, I use specific lighting setups to ensure you get clear, cinematic frames that do not lose the warmth of the evening. I also focus on the in-between moments. The nervous laughter before the wedding, the way family members hold each other, and the quiet glances. I capture these on both high-end photo gear and cinematic video to make sure you can watch the film and feel like you are back in that moment, hearing the music and feeling the rain outside. If you are planning your big day in Mumbai, let us talk about how we can make these memories last.
