About The Haldi Ceremony: Sunshine and Smiles
When I shoot a Haldi, I am not looking for perfectly posed smiles. I am waiting for the moment your cousins go a little overboard with the turmeric or that quiet, happy tear when your best friend applies it. Because the ceremony is usually in natural daylight, I rely on the soft, diffused sun to make those golden tones pop, which means we should plan the timing around the best natural light available at your venue.
The Haldi is one of the most unpredictable, messy, and wonderful parts of the wedding journey. It is where the formal guards come down and the real fun begins. I focus on the Gae Holud traditions—whether it is the floral jewelry, the traditional sarees, or the playful chaos of friends applying paste. My goal is to catch the 'Sundari' (beautiful) feeling of this day.
I usually avoid heavy flash setups during the day unless necessary, as the bright outdoor sun in Mumbai creates such lovely, natural warmth. If your ceremony is happening on a rooftop in Powai or a garden in the city, I work with the environment to ensure your portraits look glowy, not washed out. We also document the details—the flower garlands, the mehendi-stained hands, and those candid, unfiltered laughs that you will want to look back on. If you have specific rituals, like the Saptapadi or simply smearing turmeric with family, let me know. I like to be ready for the unplanned moments that make your story unique.
Let me help you find the right vibe
