About Editorial & High Fashion
On set, editorial makeup is all about the details that don't always show up to the naked eye. I adjust my product textures, like face gloss or metallic pigments, based on whether the photographer is using studio strobes or natural light, ensuring the final look is intentional and reads correctly on high-resolution cameras.
Behind the Lens
Editorial and high-fashion makeup is where I really get to experiment. Unlike daily makeup, this requires a deep understanding of how different textures, finishes, and pigments behave under professional lighting. My approach for these shoots is highly collaborative; I work closely with the photographer and stylist to ensure the makeup complements the wardrobe and the overall mood board.
My Technical Approach
- Strobe-Friendly Textures: Whether I am using graphic liners, bold pigments, or glossy finishes, I select products that don't lose their impact under harsh studio flash or daylight.
- Rapid Changeovers: For editorial campaigns where we are shooting three to five distinct looks in a single eight-hour shift, I focus on efficient, precise makeup transitions that respect your studio time.
- Skin Architecture: From raw, dewy skin to sculpted, high-fashion contours, I prep the skin specifically for the camera, ensuring it remains hydrated and luminous throughout long days of shooting.
