About The Spiritual Path: Kirtan, Mantras & Yogic Wisdom
We practice Naad Yoga—the science of sound—where the rhythm of the harmonium and the specific frequency of mantras like 'Om Namah Shivay' act as a tool for the nervous system. You will find that these vibrations help settle the mind faster than silent meditation because they give your wandering thoughts a concrete point of focus, effectively reducing the noise of daily stress.
Why Mantra Chanting Matters
Many students come to me thinking that silence is the only path to meditation. However, in our modern, fast-paced life, the mind is often too restless to jump straight into silence. This is where Naad Yoga comes in. By using sound, chant, and rhythm, we provide a bridge for the mind to slow down.
What You Will Experience
- Mantra Jaap: We use specific bija mantras that have been used for centuries to balance the chakras. It is not about perfect singing; it is about the intention behind the sound.
- Kirtan Sessions: These are communal gatherings where we sing praises to the divine. The collective energy in the room helps you let go of your inhibitions and personal anxieties.
- Yogic Philosophy: I hold regular discourses, or 'Satsang,' where we simplify the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and other ancient texts. We apply these lessons to real-life problems like stress, relationships, and work-life balance.
The Science of Sound
When you chant, the vibration of the vocal cords stimulates the vagus nerve, which helps shift your body from 'fight or flight' mode into a state of 'rest and digest.' This is why after just 15 minutes of chanting, you will often feel a lightness that an hour of intense gym activity cannot provide. We do not look for temporary relief; we look for the permanent stillness of the mind. Whether you are a beginner looking to understand the basics of Yoga or a practitioner wanting to deepen your spiritual journey, these sessions are open to everyone.
