About The Process: From Rehearsal to Stage
My rehearsal process is built on clarity and efficiency, whether we are working with 30 models on a runway or 300 performers in a stadium. Before a single movement is taught, my team and I map out detailed floor blocking and sound cues, ensuring that your production is not just visually engaging but technically flawless. We treat every rehearsal as a crucial step, balancing creative storytelling with the practical needs of large-scale event management.
What you see on stage is the result of days—and sometimes weeks—of meticulous groundwork. My approach to production isn't just about dance steps; it is about architecture, timing, and narrative.
The Production Phases
-
Concept & Soundscaping: Before the cast arrives, I work on the backbone of the performance. This involves sound editing to sync music cues perfectly with lighting and transitions. For fashion shows, this means mapping out model walks and runway pacing. For mass spectacles, it involves integrating stadium audio with broadcast requirements.
-
Blocking & Formation Design: This is where the visual impact happens. I design mathematical floor patterns—ripples, waves, and formations—that look effective from both the front row and the top stadium tiers. We use these rehearsal blocks to test sightlines and safety spacing.
-
Cast Management: Managing 100+ performers requires a hierarchical system. I work with my senior assistants and rehearsal directors to clean movements, ensuring that even non-dancers can execute the choreography with confidence. My team handles the on-site cueing, so when we get to the final stage, everything runs like clockwork.
Why Process Matters
In high-pressure environments like award nights or brand launches, there is no room for ambiguity. My process is designed to remove the guesswork. We run technical checks, safety drills, and full-dress rehearsals to ensure the final spectacle is smooth. Whether it is a 10-minute brand launch or a 45-minute show, my goal is to give you a performance that connects with your audience from the very first beat.
