Theatrical and Musical Choreography Services
I create narratives through movement, turning stages into worlds where every step tells a story. From large-scale musicals to intimate Broadway-style performances, I bring the drama, rhythm, and emotion to life.
I had the incredible opportunity to choreograph 'Superqueens', India’s first-ever drag musical. This project was about celebrating queer art and storytelling, culminating in back-to-back sold-out shows and an amazing journey with a cast of brilliant artists.
Bringing the classic 'Oliver' to life as a musical was a massive undertaking, involving the choreography for over 200 talented students. This project showcases my ability to manage and direct large, diverse casts to tell a cohesive and energetic story on stage.
After 60 shows worldwide, we launched 'Salaam India 2.0'. I co-choreographed this theatrical production, which uses dance and acting to explore stories of modern India. This clip shows the cast taking a bow after a powerful performance.
Choreographing the original song 'Family Reasons' in a Broadway theatre style was a creative highlight. The piece uses music and dance to humorously tackle the common excuses people give for breakups, performed within a single, continuous shot.
About Theatrical & Musical Storytelling
When I choreograph for theatre, I don't just teach steps; I build a scene. We look at the narrative first—how a character moves when they are angry, or the specific rhythm of a crowd in a musical number. Whether you are staging a large school production with hundreds of students or a boutique musical, my focus is on ensuring every performer, from the lead to the ensemble, knows exactly how to drive the plot forward through their physical presence.
How We Build a Show
My approach to theatrical choreography is deeply rooted in storytelling. I believe that movement should serve the plot, not distract from it. When I take on a project, I work closely with directors and producers from the script-reading phase to ensure the movement design aligns with the overall vision.
My Core Process:
- Narrative Mapping: Before we start dancing, we define the 'why'. Every gesture and formation must communicate a character's emotion or the scene's tension.
- Movement Direction vs. Choreography: I distinguish between pure dance and stage movement. In theatre, blocking is just as important as the steps. I focus on stagecraft—ensuring visual balance and clear focal points for the audience.
- Large Cast Management: Having directed productions like 'Oliver' with over 200 students, I specialize in managing large groups. My team and I handle spacing, cue management, and rehearsal schedules so the director can focus on the actors.
- Genre Fusion: I enjoy blending styles. Whether it is contemporary, Kathak, or jazz, I adapt the style to fit the story's period and setting, rather than forcing a specific dance technique where it doesn't belong.
