About Behind the Scenes: My Choreography Process
Dance is more than just steps; it is about timing, camera angles, and knowing how to handle the set. I usually plan for dedicated rehearsal sessions where we lock in the hook steps and facial expressions before we even touch the camera. On the shoot day, I am right there with the DOP to ensure the blocking is tight and every frame matches the vibe of your song.
How I Build a Routine
When you hire me for choreography, we aren't just memorizing steps. We are building a visual story. Whether it is a high-energy Bollywood track or a subtle devotional song, my process focuses on three pillars: the Hook, the Polish, and the Set Management.
1. The Hook Step
Every viral reel needs that one signature moment. I focus on creating a repetitive, catchy hook step that fits the song's beat and your comfort level. If you are a non-dancer, I adapt the moves so you still look confident without feeling awkward.
2. Rehearsal Reality
I prefer at least 3 sessions before we shoot. In these, we do not just practice footwork. We practice expressions and lip-sync. I have worked with artists like Khesari Lal Yadav, and the secret is always in the coordination. If your face does not match the dance, the video will not land.
3. On-Set Direction
Choreography does not end in the rehearsal studio. When we are on location—whether it is a beach, a set in Mumbai, or a studio—I stay active during the shoot. I coordinate with the camera crew on angles and blocking. If a formation looks loose, I fix it on the spot. My goal is to make sure that when the director says 'cut', we have exactly what we need.
