Music Video Production: My Concept to Cut Workflow
A music video is more than a track with visuals. I turn your song into a cinematic anthem through careful storyboarding, high-energy direction, and a full-scale production process.
A perfect example of the on-set transformation. You can see my crew and I meticulously setting up the lighting and covering the car, followed by the final cinematic shot. This is a glimpse into my hands-on direction and full-scale production setup.
This is where it all begins. A behind-the-scenes look at a pre-production meeting where my team and I map out the visual story. I ensure every project is built on a solid foundation of creative collaboration and detailed planning.
About The Process: From Concept to Final Cut
We do not just show up and hit record. I insist on a pre-production meeting where we break down your track, storyboard the visual beats, and align on the exact mood before we ever set foot on a location. This ensures that every frame, from the street-style raw shots to the cinematic lighting, serves the narrative of your music.
My production process is built on collaboration. Whether you are aiming for a gritty, urban hip hop aesthetic or a stylized, high-budget cinematic story, here is how I build the world for your music.
Phase 1: Pre-Production
Before the cameras roll, we map out the vision. We start with your track to define the visual strategy, moodboarding for color palettes, and storyboarding every shot. If we are doing a premium narrative shoot, this is where we lock in locations, styling, and casting, ensuring we have a concrete plan to move fast on set.
Phase 2: Production
On the day of the shoot, my role is to manage the chaos. For a standard performance video, I bring a compact, agile team of 3. For cinematic and narrative projects, I scale up to a 10-12 person crew, including a DOP, gaffer, and focus puller. We use professional cinema-line cameras like the Sony FX6 or Red Komodo, rigged with prime lenses and specialized lighting setups to get that deep, moody, high-contrast look I am known for. I stay hands-on, directing the energy and ensuring we catch the raw, authentic moments.
Phase 3: Post-Production
This is where the footage becomes a finished product. I handle the rhythm-synced editing, speed ramping, and detailed color grading to match the mood we defined in pre-production. For the cinematic projects, I also integrate custom title typography, glitch effects, and atmospheric visual effects. You do not just get a raw cut; you get a polished, industry-ready video that is ready for streaming and social media.
