From light, comforting jhol to rich, celebratory kalia—bringing the taste of a Bengali home kitchen to your table. Freshly cooked every weekend.

Aloo diye Katla Maachher Patla Jhol, a light and comforting carp curry with potatoes. It not only rhymes beautifully in Bengali but is also incredibly soothing to the palate. Enjoy this simple fish curry with warm rice and a squeeze of lemon.

This is my take on the traditional Katlar Kalia, a rich fish curry I remember from childhood wedding feasts. The fried carp is simmered in a thick, spicy gravy, making it a truly decadent dish for special occasions.

Here is my Doi Katla, a delicacy featuring river carp in a fragrant and aromatic yogurt gravy. The subtle spices and tangy yogurt create a beautiful balance of flavors, perfect for a weekend lunch.

This is a simple yet incredibly tasty dish: Begun, Kancha Lonka aar Kaalo Jeerey diye Katla Maacher Jhol. It's a light fish curry with eggplant, green chilies, and nigella seeds that I often make when I want something quick but flavorful.

Sending out this Doi Maach to my dear patrons. It's a river carp cooked in a flavorful yogurt-based gravy, seasoned with a blend of aromatic spices. It’s a dish that I hope brings comfort and joy to your meal.

This is as rustic as it gets. Fresh Tangra maach (catfish) in a spicy curry with potatoes and brinjals, spiked with a bit of 'shorshe bataa' or mustard paste. A truly authentic Bengali fish preparation.

Gawrom bhaat er shathey bataa machher shorshe jhol. This simple dish of Bata fish in a light mustard gravy is a lip-smacking delicacy, especially on a cool afternoon.

This is my special coriander fish, a preparation that's green in color but carries the right amount of zing. The secret potions in this recipe make it a unique and flavorful dish to be enjoyed with plain rice.

After a week of heavy eating, this 'paatla' or light Telapia jhol is the perfect reset. Made with nigella seeds, green chilies, and potatoes, it's a comforting and simple fish curry that feels like a hug in a bowl.

Here are portions of my rustic Tangra maach curry packed and ready for delivery. The fresh catfish, potatoes, and brinjals are cooked in a spicy mustard gravy, a favorite among my patrons.

About Maacher Paate Bangali (A Bengali's Fish Course)

I source fresh river fish like Katla, Pabda, and Bhetki straight from the local markets to ensure the flavor is right. Since I operate on a pre-order basis for weekends, these dishes are cooked fresh just for you—never stored or frozen. If you have a specific fish preparation from your childhood that you have been craving, just let me know, and I will try to include it in my next weekly menu.

For a Bengali, fish is more than just a meal. It is a ritual. Whether it is the light, turmeric-stained 'Maacher Jhol' that resets your palate after a long week, or the rich, spicy 'Katlar Kalia' that reminds you of childhood wedding feasts, my kitchen is dedicated to preserving these authentic tastes.

Everything I cook is rustic and home-style. You will not find restaurant-style smooth purees here. Instead, you get the authentic pungency of 'shorshe bataa' (mustard paste), the distinct warmth of mustard oil, and the comfort of whole potatoes slow-cooked in the gravy.

My menu changes every week based on what is fresh at the market. I handle everything from cleaning the fish to packing it in microwave-safe containers, ensuring it reaches your table just as it would on my own. Because I am a one-person kitchen, I only take orders until Thursday for the coming weekend. This helps me maintain the quality and the personal touch that my patrons love.

From the tang of 'Doi Maach' to the rustic crunch of 'Mourola' fish, each dish is a story from my past. If you are looking for that specific 'biyebari' flavor or simply need a bowl of comforting fish curry with steamed rice, have a look at my current weekend selection.
