Next-Level Tennis Fitness & Conditioning
Tennis isn't just about the swing. It’s about explosive movement, core stability, and the endurance to last three sets. Here is how I build the power behind every shot.
Leg day is essential for any tennis player. This video shows some of the gym workouts I do, including heavy squats and balance exercises, to build a powerful base for on-court movement.
Who says you can't mix things up? I incorporate calisthenics like handstand walks into my training to build shoulder stability and core strength in a fun, challenging way.
Mastering explosive movements like the superman push-up builds the kind of power you need for diving volleys and serves. This is the off-court work that makes a difference on the court.
Fitness can be a team sport too. Here's a synchronized calisthenics routine on the court, showing how we can use creative workouts to build strength and coordination.
The handstand challenge is a great test of balance, strength, and focus. I'm always looking for new ways to challenge my body and mind.
A fun drill combining accuracy and power. This kind of target practice sharpens your focus and precision under pressure.
Staying hydrated is non-negotiable for peak performance. Taking breaks to refuel is a critical part of any intense training session.
You lose a lot of fluids during a tough workout. I always emphasize the importance of proper hydration for recovery and sustained energy on the court.
About Next-Level Fitness & Conditioning
I don't just dump you in a gym for generic reps. My conditioning sessions are built specifically for the court, mixing calisthenics like handstand walks and plyometrics with match-play drills. We work on building explosive power for diving volleys and the core stability needed to stay consistent when you are fatigued in the final set.
Tennis is a full-body sport, and if your fitness doesn't support your game, your technique will break down under pressure. My conditioning approach in Bangalore focuses on real athletic power—what you actually need when you are down a break point in the fifth game.
The Methodology
We don't do 'fluff' training. My sessions prioritize:
- Explosive Agility: Using agility ladders and rapid-change drills to speed up your court coverage.
- Core Stability: You cannot hit a clean backhand or a heavy serve without a rock-solid core. We use calisthenics like superman push-ups and balance work to ensure your midsection can handle the torque of every swing.
- Court-Specific Strength: We utilize the KSLTA stadium courts not just for hitting, but as our training ground. This means your fitness work is physically happening on the surface you compete on.
Why This Matters
Most players get tired because they train in a gym, not on a court. When you work with me, you are getting a routine I use as an ITF player. We focus on the 'work hard, play hard' philosophy—meaning we push until you are sweating, but we keep it creative enough that you actually look forward to the grind. Whether you are prepping for a tournament or just want to stop getting winded after thirty minutes, this is how we get you there.
