Festive & Themed Art Workshops
I help children connect with our culture through art, turning festive themes into creative projects they can proudly display.
This piece, celebrating 'Ganpati Bappa Morya', is a great example of how I blend traditional Devanagari script with modern artistic expression. The video shows the creation of the dual-tone lettering and the final integration of the Ganesha line art.
Festive greetings are more special when they are handmade. Here, I demonstrate how to create a 'Happy Rakhi' message using a warm, two-tone color blend and a playful, modern cursive style.
Celebrating Janmashtami with art. This video shows the process of writing 'Happy Janmashtami' in a colorful, blended script, complemented by a simple drawing of Krishna's flute.
This artwork captures the warm and vibrant spirit of Lohri. The drawing features a bonfire, a dhol, and a bright sun, all created with simple marker illustrations.
A colorful celebration of Makar Sankranti. This piece features bright kites against a vibrant pink sky, with 'Happy Makar Sankranti' written in a modern calligraphy style.
This artwork, with the 'Om Namah Shivaya' mantra, captures a moment of divine connection. It combines simple drawing with Devanagari script to depict a powerful spiritual theme.
A simple yet powerful piece using the colors of the Indian flag. The saffron and green watercolor washes provide a beautiful background for calligraphy or other artistic expressions.
About Festive & Themed Art
We don’t just trace patterns; we focus on the cultural context behind every stroke. When we work on a Janmashtami project, for instance, your child learns how to blend colors to capture the mood of the festival and how to shape their script to match the theme, rather than simply copying a pre-made design.
Bringing Festivals to Life
Art is a beautiful way to teach children about our heritage. In these sessions, we focus on specific festive themes—like Rakhi, Janmashtami, Lohri, and Makar Sankranti—to make learning feel like a celebration.
How we approach these sessions:
- Cultural Context: Before we pick up a pen or brush, we talk about the significance of the festival. Whether it is the kites of Makar Sankranti or the bonfire of Lohri, understanding the 'why' makes the art more meaningful.
- Technique Integration: We use these themes to practice specific skills. You might see us using brush pens for Rakhi greetings, chisel markers for traditional Devanagari script, or simple watercolors to create vibrant festive backgrounds.
- Creative Freedom: There is no single 'right' way to draw a Ganesha or a flute. I guide kids to use their own imagination, ensuring their final piece reflects their unique personality.
Where we learn: I host these workshops at my studio in Pitampura, Delhi, and also conduct live online sessions. Whether you are local to the National Capital Region or joining from elsewhere, the class structure remains the same: small groups, step-by-step guidance, and absolutely no pressure.
If you are looking to combine handwriting improvement, Devanagari script practice, or simple drawing with a touch of tradition, these workshops are a great place to start.
