Behind the Scenes Makeup for Shoots
On-camera makeup requires skills that go beyond standard beauty techniques. Take a look at my process during film, commercial, and editorial shoots.
This clip shows the final touches on set, including applying body makeup for an all-over glow. My work extends beyond the face to ensure a complete, cohesive look that is ready for the final shot.
A glimpse of a commercial shoot in a lounge setting. This reel shows the transition from makeup and hair styling in the chair to the model performing on camera, demonstrating the finished look in a real-world production environment.
This video montage, created for a Panasonic Lumix campaign, features a variety of my work. It includes a close-up of my precise eyeliner application, a full-length shot of a model in an elegant gown, and a creative beauty look with floral elements.
About On Set: A Look Behind the Scenes
On a commercial set, makeup needs to hold up under harsh studio lights and survive long hours of filming. I focus on skin prep and using 4K-grade products that maintain consistency, ensuring your look does not break or change from the first take to the last.
When working on film, TVC, or high-fashion editorial projects, the makeup I do acts as a tool for the production team. My job is to make sure the talent looks right on camera, and that the look stays that way for the entire schedule.
The Importance of Continuity
Continuity is the biggest challenge on set. Whether it is a full-day commercial shoot or a fast-paced portfolio session, I manage continuity management so the makeup and hair do not shift between takes. This includes constant vigilance with powdering, shine control, and fixing flyaways, allowing the director and DOP to focus on the shot rather than the talent's appearance.
Working with Studio Lights
Natural light and studio strobes react differently to cosmetics. I use specific high-definition products that are designed to be 4K-friendly, preventing any flashback or unevenness when bright lights hit the face. For editorial shoots, this means using bold pigments that pop, while for commercials, it often means creating a flawless, clean finish that looks realistic on high-resolution cameras.
My Kit and Collaboration
I do not just show up to paint a face. I come with a full kit ready for character design and creative needs, including special effects basics like sweat or texture if the script requires it. I work closely with your creative team, photographers, and lighting crew to adjust the intensity of the makeup based on the environment. Whether we are shooting in a Mumbai studio or a location across India, my priority is making the vision work on screen.
