About Tabla Training
I see Tabla as more than just beats - it’s a living language that tells stories. At Sangeet Sadhana, learning Tabla is a real sadhana, connecting you to Hindustani shastriya sangeet. I want you to get not just the skills, but also the feeling behind every stroke.
The Way We Learn: Guru-Shishya Parampara
Our classes follow the old-school Guru-Shishya parampara, where you don’t just pick up tricks but learn the real vibe from the Guru. Ashwin sir, our Guru, has deep roots in tabla rhythm training and layakari. He keeps it real - explaining in simple terms, whether you’re a complete newbie or have already tried your hand at it.
Learning Journey: From Basics to Solo Tabla Performance
- Start with the basics: bol, laya (tempo), maatra, sam, khali - all the building blocks
- Get your hands dirty with the taal system learning, from simple to tough rhythms
- Move on to tabla accompaniment techniques - jamming with singers and other instruments
- If you’re up for it, we’ll get you doing solo tabla performance, not just group stuff
Riyaaz & Real Practice
It’s not all about performing. True growth happens in quiet riyaaz - those long hours where patience and practice take over.
Classes happen in person at our Bangalore school. We keep batches small so you actually get noticed, and weekend slots are there for busy folks. The vibe is very community - not just lessons, but real connection.

My Story
Sangeet Sadhana started from our founder’s living room, inspired by Kishori Tai’s words and Guru Dipali Nag’s legacy. Sixteen years later, we’re still a big family—students, teachers, parents, all in it together. We’re not just teaching ragas, we’re waking up the music inside you. Little kids, grown-ups, everyone finds their own tune here. Guru-Shishya parampara is our heartbeat—music is our way to connect, not just perform.
My Work
Hindustani Classical Music Classes - We teach vocal, Tabla, Sitar, Sarod, and Flute to all ages, online or offline.
Guru-Shishya Parampara - Old-school tradition—music lessons and life values go hand in hand here.
Monthly Baithak Performance Platform - Students perform live, loosen up, and learn the rasa and history behind each piece.
Beginner to Advanced Courses - Toddlers play with swaras, adults meditate with Raag Bhairav—everyone’s welcome.
Sadhana and Dedication - Music asks for patience and surrender. Breaks? Only if you’re dying, as they say.
