Discover the meditative art of the Bansuri through the traditional Guru-Shishya parampara in Koramangala. We guide you from your first breath to the depths of raag.

A student practices her flute technique, focusing on breath control and tone. For beginners learning the bansuri, we provide special attention to these fundamentals, ensuring they build a strong and authentic foundation in this ancient wind instrument.

About this collection

Learning the flute is a delicate balance of breath control and posture, which is why we begin with the absolute basics of swara alignment. You will not just learn to play notes; we focus on the meditative nature of your riyaz, ensuring you find the right tone before moving into complex aalaps or gats.

The Bansuri is often described as the voice of the wind, but for a student, it is the most demanding instrument. At Sangeet Sadhana, we strip away the performance pressure to focus on the technical rigour required for classical music. Our classes, held in our Koramangala studio, are kept to small groups of 3 to 6 students. This ensures that every individual receives the necessary guidance on embouchure and breath management—the foundational pillars of sound production.

Our pedagogy follows the Maihar Gharana style, where technique serves emotion. Beginners start with paltas to develop finger dexterity and lung capacity. As you advance, we introduce the nuances of raag, helping you understand how to weave emotions into your compositions through alap, jod, and jhala. You will learn to internalize the layakari, or rhythmic improvisation, which brings the music to life.

We believe music is not merely an intellectual pursuit but a physical and mental practice. For this reason, we integrate theory with performance. You will have the opportunity to participate in our monthly baithaks—informal, supportive concerts where you can perform alongside live tabla sangat. This is where the dry theory of notes transforms into the living art of a performance.

Whether you are a beginner looking to understand the swaras or an experienced practitioner aiming to deepen your riyaz, we provide a structured path. We offer monthly training packages starting at ₹3100, which include theory sessions and performance eligibility. For those beginning their journey with us, our one-time onboarding bundle covers your lifetime registration and initial assessment to ensure you are placed in the correct batch. If you are learning from abroad or outside Bengaluru, our virtual instruction via Zoom is tailored specifically to manage audio latency, ensuring you do not lose the essence of the raga.
