About Mumbai Stories: Outdoor Sessions
Outdoor sessions in Mumbai require a bit of extra planning, mainly because we are chasing that perfect golden hour light. We will spend time discussing the right location for your comfort, whether you prefer a secluded garden to escape the city noise or a historic landmark that brings an urban, artistic edge to your portraits.
While my studio in Lower Parel is my creative playground, taking our session outdoors adds a layer of movement and life that is entirely unique. Outdoor photography is all about embracing the environment. Whether it is the soft morning light filtering through trees or the dramatic lines of a city stepwell, the backdrop becomes a part of your story.
How we handle outdoor sessions
- Timing is everything: To get that signature soft glow, I strictly schedule outdoor sessions during the golden hour. This is usually early morning or in the hour before sunset when the harsh Mumbai sun is low and kind to your skin.
- Location scouting: If you have a specific spot in mind, let me know. Some public places in Mumbai require prior permissions for photography, and I can guide you on what is feasible. If you prefer, I have a list of go-to spots that offer privacy and beautiful natural aesthetics.
- Comfort first: Outdoor shoots are more active than studio sessions. I recommend wearing comfortable footwear for walking between spots. We will take breaks, keep it relaxed, and focus on genuine interactions rather than stiff, posed pictures.
Preparing for the elements
Unlike the climate-controlled environment of a studio, the outdoors is unpredictable. We embrace this. A little wind in your hair or a dramatic sky only adds to the mood of your portraits. My job is to handle the logistics—finding the light, managing the crowds, and navigating the setup—so you can just breathe, focus on your partner or little ones, and enjoy the experience.
