Color is Everything, Black & White is More
Sometimes the most vibrant stories are told in shades of grey. I strip away the distraction of color to focus on what really matters, the raw, unfiltered love between you and your family.
A huddle of love. This black and white family portrait is overflowing with kisses and joy, a perfect freeze-frame of happiness.
The pure joy of being lifted up by dad. Black and white captures the energy and laughter in this moment so perfectly.
A piggyback ride from dad is always a good idea. The genuine smiles in this black and white portrait are what it's all about.
A father's smile and his baby's tiny feet. This unique angle in black and white creates an artistic and emotional portrait of their connection.
A mother's love, captured in a classic black and white portrait. Her expression and her baby's happy face say everything.
A beautiful multi-generational portrait. Black and white adds a layer of elegance and timelessness to this image of a mother and her two children.
A piggyback ride from mom! This playful, candid moment is a perfect example of the fun we have during our Mom & Me mini sessions.
About this collection
While my studio in Lower Parel offers vibrant, colourful sets, these black and white sessions are where I slow everything down. We ditch the fancy props and bold patterns to focus entirely on your expressions, your touch, and the way you look at each other. It takes a little vulnerability to stand in front of the lens without the safety of color, but that is exactly where the magic happens.
People often ask me why I lean so heavily into monochrome. The answer is simple, color can be a distraction. When you remove it, the image shifts from being about the outfit or the backdrop to being solely about the emotion. I want you to look back at these portraits in ten, twenty, or fifty years and feel the exact same connection you feel today.
The Art of Monochrome
In my studio sessions, I work with high-key and low-key lighting techniques to create drama. High-key brings out a clean, ethereal look, perfect for a newborn's soft skin. Low-key is moody and intimate, highlighting the connection between parents and children. Whether it is a mother holding her newborn or a father sharing a laugh with his toddler, the lack of color emphasizes the texture of a hug, the crinkle of a smile, and the gaze in your eyes.
Is It Right for Your Family?
You might worry that a black and white session feels too serious, but the opposite is true. Because we aren't chasing the perfect colorful coordinated outfit, the session becomes much more about movement. We play, we tickle, we dance. I guide you to interact naturally, letting the camera catch the genuine giggles and the quiet, tender pauses in between. If you are looking for timeless heirlooms rather than just trendy snapshots, this is the style for you. It is authentic, it is raw, and it never goes out of style.
