Professional Saree Draping Classes in Chennai
A saree is more than just fabric, it is tradition and emotion. Whether you are a bride, a makeup artist, or just love the art of pleating, come learn the science of a perfect drape with me.
A moment from a professional workshop where I am demonstrating my hanger folding technique. This method helps in storing pre-pleated sarees without damaging the pleats.
In my workshops, I always take the time to explain the theory behind the techniques. Here, I am discussing the importance of body posture and how to adjust the drape for different body types.
A one-on-one class with my student Haneesha from Kerala. I am guiding her hands-on as she learns to create and set the pallu pleats on a rich red silk saree.
About Hands-On Draping Classes & Workshops
It is not just about pinning. In my workshops, I focus on the science behind the silk. We spend time on how different fabrics like heavy Kanchipuram silk behave under a steam iron versus a dry iron. We practice getting the centre pleats and pallu alignment perfect, because even a millimetre of difference changes how the saree sits on your body. If you do not get the base right, no amount of pinning will make it stay.
Why You Should Learn Saree Draping
Paatheenganna, sarees can be tricky. My workshops are designed to take away that stress. Whether you want to drape sarees for yourself or start offering this as a professional service, you need to understand the fabric. Silk is not the same as synthetic. I teach you how to handle heavy silks, how to use saree pegs to keep pleats sharp, and the secret to creating those stiff, paper-like pleats that everyone loves.
