Saree Draping Classes in Bangalore: Learn to Drape Yourself

byShikha AgarwalStudio at BasavanagudiView full gallery

Stop relying on others to get your pleats perfect. Whether it's a heavy Kanjivaram or delicate chiffon, I'll teach you the hacks to drape your own saree and keep it secure for hours.

I was invited as a special guest to motivate women to embrace our Indian culture. I believe every woman should be able to wear a saree without anyone's help, and that is the vision behind my classes and my brand.

This song resonates with my journey. After dedicating my life to my kids, I decided to start my own small business at 40, selling not just a service, but confidence to other women.

I was honored to win the Bangalore Women Brand Award for Beauty & Wellness. This award is a recognition of my vision to share and spread the Indian art of saree draping with every woman.

A beautiful moment from a group workshop, where I am demonstrating how to pin the shoulder pleats correctly.

About this collection

Most students come to me because they struggle with shoulder pleats that keep falling or they are afraid to ruin delicate fabrics with wrong pinning. We don't just watch a tutorial here; I show you the exact tension tricks for slippery fabrics and the 'flip hack' for pinning that ensures your drape stays secure for over 8 hours. It is all about finding the right foundation—once you get the petticoat and initial tucking right, the rest is just following the rhythm. Theek hai?

My sessions are designed to move you from frustration to independence. Whether we are meeting in my Bangalore studio for a hands-on workshop or connecting over a 1-on-1 video call, the goal remains the same: you should be able to drape any fabric, from heavy silks to slippery organza, by yourself.

What we cover in your session

  • Foundation Basics: We start with the petticoat or shapewear. If this isn't tied right, the whole saree will feel heavy or slip down. We fix your height and tucking foundation first.
  • Pleating Mechanics: I teach you how to create consistent 5-6 inch center pleats for that slimming effect, and how to pin them so they don't budge.
  • Fabric Specifics: Each fabric behaves differently. We practice how to handle heavy Banarasis versus light Chiffons, so you are never caught off guard.
  • Event Readiness: I teach you the 'Mermaid Fit' and how to lock your shoulder pleats so you can dance or walk comfortably at weddings without constantly adjusting your pallu.

Why one-on-one?

Group classes can be overwhelming, and generic tutorials don't know your specific saree fabric or body type. In my classes, I watch your hand movements and correct your grip in real-time. If you are struggling with a specific drape, we redo it until it feels easy. My aim is to make sure you never have to wait for someone else to get you ready.
