Here I am giving the final touches for a beautiful bride. Getting the pleats and the fall of a heavy Kanchipuram silk saree just right for the main event is my specialty, ensuring the bride looks and feels perfect on her big day.
Hi everyone, this is a small introduction to my saree pre-pleating process. I explain the essential tools you need, like a good steam iron and ironing table, to get those perfect, crisp pleats, especially for pattu sarees.
This is the traditional Iyer Madisar drape, a style that is very close to my heart. I love teaching and draping this 9-yard saree for special functions and cultural events, keeping our traditions alive.
A glimpse from one of my saree draping workshops. You can see me demonstrating techniques on a model for a group of enthusiastic students, creating a fun and interactive learning environment.
The final result of my pre-pleating and box folding service. I carefully pleat and steam iron the saree so it stays perfect, and then fold it into a compact box, ready for you to wear anytime.
It was a joy teaching a personal class to my student from Japan. Here she is getting hands-on practice with steam ironing and setting pleats. It shows that the love for sarees has no boundaries.
In my classes, I often use a mannequin to demonstrate specific techniques like creating neat chest pleats. This allows students to clearly see every step of the process up close before they try it themselves.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing my students succeed. This is a selfie with a student after a successful one-on-one saree draping session where she mastered the art of pre-pleating.
About Featured
Kanchipuram silk sarees can be tricky, but they drape beautifully when handled right. I use a professional steam-ironing technique to set the pleats perfectly before your event, so you save time and look crisp all day without any last-minute stress. Whether you need me to drape you for a wedding or you want to learn these techniques yourself, I focus on the details that make the final look sharp and comfortable.
My work is all about getting the fundamentals right. When I work with a bride for her Kanchipuram silk saree, it’s not just about pinning it up. It’s about the steam iron, the precise pleat alignment, and making sure the heavy silk falls exactly the way it should. I’ve helped clients from Japan to England feel comfortable in our traditional sarees, which is a joy to be part of.
For those wanting to learn, I keep my workshops very practical. We don’t just talk theory. Whether you are joining my one-on-one masterclass or an online look-and-learn session, we cover the essentials: how to handle different fabrics, the box folding technique for travel, and how to create crisp, sharp pleats in under ten minutes.
I offer three main ways to connect:
- Professional Bridal & Event Draping: You book me, I come to your venue in Chennai, and we make sure you look stunning.
- Pre-Pleating Service: You send me your saree, I steam iron and pre-pleat it to your measurements, and it arrives ready to wear. No hassle on your big day.
- Learning Workshops: If you have a passion for sarees, I teach you everything from the traditional Iyer Madisar drape to modern styling tips. My classes are hands-on, often with mannequins or live models, so you really get a feel for the material. It’s an art form I want to share with everyone, regardless of your skill level.
