Getting a great portrait isn't about standing still or holding a pose; it’s about movement. When we shoot, I often give you a prompt—maybe a shared memory or a simple dance move—to spark a genuine laugh or a soft look. This interaction is what makes the final shot feel like a memory, not just a picture.
Photography is often misunderstood as just pointing a lens and clicking. For these artistic portraits, I focus on the 'why' and 'how.' Whether we are shooting a pre-wedding session at Sula Vineyards or finding quiet corners at a crowded wedding venue, I use a mix of ambient lighting and strategic framing to isolate what matters—you.
My approach to retouching is technical but honest. I use a 'dodging and burning' technique that adds depth and pop to the image without making your skin look plastic. You are the subject, not the filter. If we are doing a pre-wedding portrait session, I encourage outfit changes that let you be yourself—casual, ethnic, or formal. My goal is to deliver 40-50 high-resolution images that are clean, polished, and authentic.
I am a bit of a gear geek, and I believe in using tools like mirrorless cameras to get the best out of low-light reception stages or bright, sunny outdoor gardens. But at the end of the day, gear is secondary to the emotion. If you want portraits that look like you, just on your best day, we will be a great fit.
