About The First Look & Vows: Before "I Do"
I always suggest blocking out 15 minutes of dedicated time for a first look, ideally somewhere quiet away from guests. It allows us to capture those genuine, unposed emotions—the shaky hands, the tearful smiles, and the relief of finally being together—before the wedding day rush kicks in.
Why a First Look?
It is not just about getting photos. It is about taking a breath. In my experience, couples who do a first look are significantly more relaxed during the actual ceremony. It turns a high-pressure moment into an intimate memory.
The Friend with a Camera Approach
I do not treat this like a studio setup. Whether we are in a quiet garden in Goa or a private corner at a Mumbai hotel, I hang back. I let you two have that moment. You will not see me shouting directions or making you pose awkwardly. My goal is for the photos to look natural but polished.
Technical Details
I shoot these sequences with wider apertures to keep the focus strictly on your reactions, and I apply my signature dodging and burning edits to make the emotion pop without making the image look over-processed or fake.
Your Vows
Writing your own vows? That is gold. I make sure to position myself so I can capture both the speaker's intensity and the listener's reaction. It is the raw, unfiltered stuff that makes for the best album pages later.
Pro Tip: Plan this for just before golden hour if possible. The light is soft, flattering, and adds that cinematic layer to your intimate portraits.
