When I work on vintage shoots, it is all about the structure. I do not just style hair; I build it. Whether we are aiming for 1920s Great Gatsby waves or a structured, pearl-studded editorial look, I use specific hair fillers and professional-grade setting sprays to ensure the shape holds throughout the entire shoot, no matter how many times we shift the lighting or camera angles.
Editorial styling is a completely different beast compared to bridal work. For campaigns and magazine lookbooks, the hair needs to tell a story. It requires a different kind of precision—we are talking about sharp, clean lines that translate well in high-definition photography.
My process starts with a technical breakdown of the concept. If we are doing a vintage theme, I focus on the authentic details—the wet look of 1920s finger waves or the precise volume of retro bouffants. I use specific padding and structural techniques to create these architectural shapes without weighing the hair down.
Collaboration is the cornerstone of my work. I work closely with photographers and stylists to understand the mood. If the outfit requires a high ponytail with a specific sleek finish, I ensure the gel work is flawless and the flyaways are non-existent before the first flash goes off.
