Practical wisdom on turning raw elements into soulful living spaces. From color palettes that boost your energy to materials that actually stand the test of time, here is my design philosophy.

In this video, I share some common design mistakes to avoid. From overusing gold to matching everything, learn my tips on how to create a space that is authentic, textured, and uniquely you.

Lighting is the heart of any space. It has the power to instantly change the mood, from a productive white light for work to a relaxing yellow light for the evening. The right lighting can make or break a design.

How do I select furniture? It depends on the client's timeline, budget, and personality. I prefer customized furniture over standard brands because it tells a personal story and makes a space truly unique.

I have a knack for sensing which color a client will love just by their aura. My approach is to use a neutral base and add a pop of color, as it adds so much character and a gush of energy to any space.

Adding plants brings a touch of green and peace to any space. Whether you prefer high-maintenance exotic plants or low-maintenance ones, I can help you select the right biophilic elements to suit your lifestyle.

Choosing the right window material can be tricky. In this video, I compare wood, aluminum, and vinyl, and explain why I often recommend vinyl for its great value, energy efficiency, and low maintenance.

The perfect art piece adds personality to your space. I share my tips on how to select art that resonates with you, considering scale, style, and color to transform your room.

Wall art has a secret language. It's a form of self-expression, a storyteller, and a tone-setter for your space. The colors in the art can help you unwind and transform your mood.

How do you choose the right color for your room? I consider the volume of the space, the direction of sunlight, and most importantly, the personality of the person who will live in it.

Here are five materials I love to use: velvet upholstery, brass accents, solid wood, marble surfaces, and rattan weaves. Each one brings a unique texture, character, and feel to the spaces I design.

About Design & Material Insights

I don't just pick materials from a catalog because they look good on screen. I pick them based on how they hold up to the humidity, how they age, and most importantly, how they feel when you walk barefoot or run your hand across them. Whether it is selecting marble for a factory floor or deciding between wood and vinyl for your bedroom, I look for the balance between raw durability and the soul of the room.

Beyond the Surface

Most people think interior design is about aesthetics. It is not. It is about how a space functions when nobody is looking. When I recommend materials like velvet for upholstery or brass for accents, I am not just thinking about how they photograph. I am thinking about how they invite you to touch, sit, and relax.

The Material Truth

  • Vinyl vs. Wood: People often jump to wood because it is traditional, but I frequently recommend high-quality vinyl for its energy efficiency and moisture resistance. It provides better value for most urban homes.
  • Lighting as a Tool: Light is not just brightness. A white light puts your mind in a work-focused mode, while a warm, yellow light invites you to disconnect and unwind. I design layouts that let you toggle between these modes.
  • The Finishing Standard: My work is often messy and noisy at the start—that is the nature of a real build. But the handover is different. I am notorious for saying "nikal do" (get it out) if a finish is even slightly off. If it is not perfect, it does not leave my site.

My Approach to Color

I rarely use a standard color card. I look at your aura, the volume of the space, and the path of the sunlight. I prefer starting with a neutral, grounded base and adding a sudden, sharp pop of color. It creates a gush of energy that makes the room feel alive rather than like a showroom. Design should always feel like you, not like a page in a magazine.

I am Purvi, and I see design as a bridge between your personality and your space. I do not just fill rooms with furniture; I build homes that breathe. If you are looking for someone who obsesses over the finishing as much as the layout, let's talk.
