About Portraits of Sporting Heroes
I don't just sketch faces, I capture the energy of the field. Whether it is the camouflage on Mahi’s jersey or the intensity in Jaddu’s gaze, every detail is layered by hand. It takes real patience, sometimes 30 to 90 hours per piece, to get that photorealistic finish on 200 GSM archival paper.
My process is simple but slow. I use the grid method for total anatomical accuracy, ensuring the pencil portrait looks exactly like the reference. I work with high-grade graphite and charcoal on acid-free paper to make sure the contrast pops.
When I drew Sunil Chhetri, I focused on the leadership in his expression, spending 22 hours to get it right. For MS Dhoni, it took 90 hours of careful shading to layer every detail of that camouflage jersey. These aren't just quick sketches. I treat every piece as a dedicated study of the person’s character.
Commissioning a piece is straightforward. You send me a photo, and I turn it into a physical piece of art. I provide 2-3 work-in-progress updates so you see the layers building up as I work. Every final piece is signed, scanned for a high-res digital copy, and shipped in a crush-proof PVC tube to ensure it reaches you safely. Whether it is a tribute to a legend or a personal gift, I put the same focus into every line.
