Family & Wedding Styling: Coordinated Looks for Your Special Event
Getting the whole family wedding-ready shouldn't feel like a chore. From destination events in Sicily to local celebrations, I handle the sourcing and styling so you can focus on enjoying the time with your loved ones.
A glimpse into the planning for the Patel family's wedding in Sicily. It all started when Pyush reached out from the US for a special family shopping experience, which became a journey of creating memories.
For one of the wedding events, we chose this elegant ivory saree from Shanti Banaras for Harshana and a powder blue Jodhpuri from Shantanu & Nikhil for Pyush, creating a coordinated and sophisticated look.
For the younger members of the family, we selected a beautiful powder blue sharara by Shantanu & Nikhil and a sharp blue sherwani from Rajesh Pratap Singh, complementing the family's overall aesthetic.
Finding the perfect gown is a journey. Here I am at the Shantanu & Nikhil store in Kala Ghoda, trying on some of their incredible new collection to understand the fit and feel for my clients with upcoming formal events.
Exploring the exquisite world of Shanti Banaras in Mumbai. This store is a must visit for anyone looking for timeless ethnic wear, and it's one of my go to spots when sourcing outfits for weddings and festive occasions.
I often draw inspiration from high fashion editorials like this one. The blend of traditional silhouettes with modern footwear, like these platform sneakers, is a great example of how to make festive wear feel personal and unique.
About Family & Wedding Styling
Coordinating a group is less about making everyone match and more about finding a shared visual thread. I start by aligning your family’s diverse personal styles with the event's specific venue, whether it’s a beach wedding or a formal reception, ensuring no one feels like they’re wearing a costume.
Managing the wardrobe for a family at a wedding is a logistical puzzle. You have different age groups, conflicting comfort zones, and the pressure of a major event. My approach removes the stress from this process. We don't just pick outfits; we build a narrative that ties everyone together without forcing a uniform look.
When we begin, I look at the event's scale and venue. A destination wedding in Sicily requires breathable, suitcase-friendly fabrics that hold up to travel, while a local Mumbai reception might call for heavy traditional weaves like those from Shanti Banaras. I handle the sourcing, from high-street finds to luxury designer pieces from the likes of Shantanu & Nikhil or Rajesh Pratap Singh.
The biggest hurdle families face isn't finding clothes, it's decision fatigue. I act as the filter. If a piece doesn't fit the vision, we don't buy it. I also manage the technical details that get overlooked: ensuring the hemlines are perfect, that undergarments are correct, and that accessories make the outfit shine rather than cluttering it. My role includes coordinating with the venue, managing the shopping logistics, and even conducting trial fittings so that when the day arrives, everyone is comfortable, confident, and picture-perfect. Whether it’s an ivory saree for the mother or a crisp Jodhpuri for the groom, the goal is effortless coordination.
