My home is a shared space for dogs and cats who, like my own pack, have learned the art of peaceful coexistence. It is a unique, lively environment where your pup can learn to be respectful of feline friends.

A look at our multi-species family. From a Rottweiler sharing a bed with a kitten to cats and dogs napping side-by-side, this is what harmony looks like at my home.

A little bit of cat-on-dog shenanigans. My patient dogs act as comfortable, living furniture for our feline residents. This kind of interaction is always supervised and always hilarious.

My dog Scotch begging my cat Bella to play with him, a daily morning ritual. It's a funny and sweet example of the cross-species friendships that form in our home.

My 40kg Labrador, Scotch, has decided he identifies as a cat. You'll often find him perched on ledges, just like his feline siblings. It's a quirky and fun part of our home life.

The so-called "bully breed" of the animal world and a Rottweiler. This picture of my cat and my Rottweiler peacefully sharing the bed challenges stereotypes and shows the gentle nature of these wonderful animals.

About this collection

People often ask if dogs and cats can really get along, and the answer is usually yes, provided the introductions are managed with respect for both species. My house isn't a facility with separate wings; it is a blended home where they share space, beds, and eventually, a mutual understanding. If your dog is curious but respectful, they will fit right into this vibrant dynamic.

Living with both dogs and cats requires a specific kind of harmony, one that I have carefully cultivated over the years. This is not a kennel where animals are locked away. Here, the boundaries are social, not physical. My own dogs, like Scotch and Simba, have been raised alongside feline siblings, and they act as the best teachers for any new visiting pup.

Why this matters for your dog

  • Social Intelligence: Dogs who learn to coexist with cats develop a higher level of social awareness and patience. They learn to read body language beyond just barking or chasing.
  • Confidence Building: Many dogs have never encountered a cat in a home setting. Seeing my residents lounging peacefully with cats helps nervous dogs realize the environment is calm and safe.
  • Active Supervision: I do not just put them together and hope for the best. Every interaction is monitored. I know exactly when a dog is getting too excited and when a cat needs their personal space.

If your dog has a high prey drive or cannot be trusted around smaller animals, this specific setup might not be the right fit, and I will be the first to tell you that during our mandatory trial stay. Safety is the baseline, and harmony is the goal.
