I don't believe in overcomplicating things. For group acts, I prioritize formations and transitions over complex steps because that’s what looks best on camera and on stage. Whether it’s a bridesmaid squad or a full family performance, my choreography ensures no one gets lost in the crowd, and we always save room for those candid, unplanned moments that actually make the video go viral.
My Approach to Group Choreography
My Sangeet Series isn't about being a professional dancer; it's about being a star for a day. When I choreograph for groups, I keep the steps energetic but easy. We focus on big, clear movements that work for 6 to 12 people. We mix popular Bollywood tracks with a bit of a classic tadka.
Why Practice Matters
We offer 8 to 10 rehearsal sessions, which are crucial for getting the timing right with a group. We don't just teach the steps; we manage the stage formations—circles, V-shapes, and partner swaps—so the performance looks dynamic even if you aren't a seasoned dancer.
Practical Details
- Flexibility: If your squad is in Electronic City, we can meet at my studio. If people are flying in from other parts of Bangalore or even other cities, we switch to hybrid mode with Zoom sessions.
- Customization: Pick a song that everyone in the group enjoys.
- Skill Management: If the group has mixed skill levels, let me know early. I create 'layered' choreography where the more experienced dancers handle the intricate moves, while the rest of the squad supports with high-energy, simpler steps.
- Props: From sunglasses to dupattas, I incorporate simple props that add flavor without making the routine difficult to learn.
