Prepare for heart-pounding encounters. From graceful mantas to the raw power of tiger sharks, we guide you through the Maldives' most active pelagic hotspots.

A close pass from a beautiful tiger shark in the clear Maldivian waters. Notice the distinctive stripes and powerful build. Encounters like this are the highlight of our dedicated shark diving itineraries.

The effortless grace of grey reef sharks patrolling the edge of the reef. We often see multiple species of sharks on a single dive, including black tips, white tips, and these impressive reef sharks.

A blacktip reef shark cruises over the coral. These sharks are common in the shallower areas of the reef and are a constant, exciting presence on our dives at sites like Helengeli Thila.

A rare and fascinating sight. A guitar shark, which looks like a cross between a shark and a ray, rests on the sandy bottom. Finding unique species like this is what makes exploring with us so rewarding.

Sometimes the ocean surprises you with a fly-by of countless manta rays. This squadron appeared as if from nowhere, filling the water with their majestic silhouettes, a truly unforgettable moment for our divers.

It felt like it was raining stingrays on this dive. These graceful creatures glided all around us, part of a massive school that also included various sharks in the near distance.

The spotted eagle ray is one of the most beautiful rays, with its unique pattern and long tail. They can reach a wingspan of about 11 feet and are a spectacular sight as they "fly" through the water.

A whale shark opens its mouth to filter feed, with our snorkelers keeping a respectful distance. We ensure our interactions are sustainable and don't disturb the natural behavior of these magnificent animals.

The challenge on this dive was trying to count the stingrays. They covered the sea floor as far as the eye could see, a testament to the healthy ecosystem of this unique Maldivian dive site.

While our divers were mesmerized by the sheer number of stingrays, we could spot tiger sharks patrolling the edges of the frenzy. The ocean is always full of action and multiple layers of life.

About Big Ticket Sightings: Sharks & Rays

Our secret isn't just the destination; it’s the timing. By analyzing tidal currents and lunar cycles at sites like Maya Thila, we position our groups in the exact channels where these pelagic species hunt and gather. This expert local knowledge is what turns a lucky sighting into a reliable, consistent encounter on our expeditions.
