Hand-Drawn Hyper-Realistic Pencil Portraits

I pour hours into every graphite stroke, capturing skin textures and those tiny details that make a portrait feel real. Whether it's a gift or a personal tribute, let's turn your memories into art.

My take on a classic portrait of Angelina Jolie. The main goal here was to capture her distinct features and intense gaze using careful shading with graphite pencils to create a soft yet powerful look.

A detailed graphite portrait of Gal Gadot. I spent about 10 hours on this piece, using Staedtler pencils and blending stumps to achieve the smooth skin texture and the intricate details in her hair and clothing.

Another angle of the Gal Gadot portrait, showing the finished work next to my pencils. This view highlights the subtle shading and highlights that bring the drawing to life.

This video shows the result of hours of practice in shading and form. The final piece is a hyper-realistic pencil portrait where I focused on creating soft, smooth skin tones and capturing the emotion in her eyes.

This piece was a fun challenge in texture. I used fine graphite pencils to create the realistic effect of sand on skin, focusing on the contrast between the smooth skin and the grainy texture for a unique and striking portrait.

A time-lapse of a portrait of Lisa from Blackpink. I used a white gel pen to add intricate details to her dress over the graphite base, showing how I combine different tools for a unique effect.

The finished pencil portrait of Lisa, laid out with the tools I used. This black and white drawing focuses on her striking expression and the detailed texture of her hair.

About this collection

Creating a portrait isn't just about the outline, it’s about the patience involved in shading and blending. I spend hours on the eyes and skin texture alone, using high-grade Faber-Castell and Staedtler graphite to ensure the depth is just right. Sometimes I will spend 10 hours on a single piece to get that gaze perfect. If you are wondering how it works, I build the drawing up in layers, and keeping the paper clean is half the battle.

How I Work

When you order a piece, I start by choosing the right reference photo. Clarity matters a lot. I work exclusively on premium acid-free Bristol paper, which holds up better against the heavy layering of graphite and charcoal. My process is slow—I don't rush. I start with light sketches to map out the facial structure, then move into the shading.

The Details

I really obsess over the small stuff, like individual skin pores, eyelash strands, and the texture of the iris. That is where the 'realism' actually comes from. Once the shading is done, I use professional-grade fixative sprays. This is a crucial step because it locks the graphite in place and prevents smudging during transit. I want your artwork to reach you exactly as I finished it.

Practical Stuff to Know

  • Timeline: Good art takes time, usually 7 to 14 days, so please plan accordingly if you have a specific date in mind.
  • Framing: I ship the original artwork in rigid PVC tubes or flat-packed between hardboards. It will come ready for you to frame, so I recommend taking it to a local frame shop for a glass mount.
  • Storage: Until you frame it, please keep the paper away from moisture and direct sunlight. It is physical art, not a digital file, so it needs a bit of care.

If you have a specific look in mind, or if you're confused about which photo would work best for a portrait, just DM me. We can figure it out together.
